MOLESKIN
Today marks the 125th running of the Boston Marathon. A key feature in the Boston Marathon is the steep up hill run near Mile 20 known as Heartbreak Hill. It’s not so much the hill itself but, rather, having to do the hill at that point in the race. Today the Patmos grassy hill became Heartbreak Hill.
In honor of my son Mike and him running Boston today, we did counts of 5-8-5 in warm up for his bib number 585. To honor the work & dedication of those athletes participating in today’s 26.2 mile event we did sets of 26 x2 and we ran that damn hill when we were tired. Remember, some of the athletes are in wheel chairs, blind, or otherwise handicapped…. so keep that humbling thought in mind when you’re simply feeling tired, defeated, or want to slack.
Also, I had this Beatdown written before PacRat decided to open the Burpee Challenge so I had to scrub some things and added the daily Burpees (yeah yeah yeah, I know we did more than 25 and I called Optimus an Overachiever once for doing 50, and I know it was at the end and I know you had to run up hill,… what’s your point??! Lol). Look at this way, you weren’t going to do Burpees later today after this beatdown anyhow so, you’re welcome 😉 oddly/sadly, this beatdown wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be.
Everyone did a great job today!
Reflection-
We know, through our faith, of Gods love and it’s not enough to simply recognize and quietly cherish His gifts. It’s not enough that we keep our faith untarnished and to ourselves, hidden from the world. The gift of faith should prompt us to be disciples for Christ and help us bring others less fortunate to Him.
Lord, help me to appreciate your gifts and use them to the best of my ability, for your glory.
