PAX: Campbells, Scarecrow, Dr. Frued, 10K, Rusty, HH, HHH, Fat Tire (aka HHHH), Class Act, Heisenberg, Cornholio, Mr. Incredible (QIC)
Due to a late posting of the August schedule (thanks to yours truly), I felt the need to grab the 8/1 Q… after ensuring Bozo didn’t want it for his manniversary Q. With that data, I set up to set up a Q in his honor, with my own twist. With that, 12 PAX made their way into the muggy, stagnant gloom for the following:
Warm Up
SSH x15IC
Windmill x15IC
Bean Pickers x15IC
Light Pole Lap
Perfect Squat x10IC
Perfect Merkin x10IC
Perfect Lunge x20IC (10 each leg)
The Thang 1
The Bozo’s special: 4×4 Light Pole Lap, stopping at each light pole for the 4 reps of the 4×4: (burpee into plank, 4 merkins, 4 mountain climbers, stand = 1 rep)
Grab Coupons and head to the “container field”
The Thang 2
Each PAX was given 2 ping-pong balls with a bucket in the center. Each “toss” all PAX threw both ping-pong balls. The number of balls missed* determined the rep count:
First Toss: 24 missed
Coupon Curl x12IC
Overhead Press x12IC
One-hand Row x12IC
Second Toss: 20 missed
Skull Crusher x10IC
Chest Press x10IC
Coupon Complex x10IC
Third Toss: 9 made it in*
9x hill repeats with 3 merkins at the bottom each time
The Thang 3
7 total containers brought out, each designating a different, predetermined exercise. Each ping-pong ball in = 5 reps of that exercise. All missed balls = 1 burpee. Here’s the outcome:
Little Man in the Woods x10IC (2 balls)
Perfect squats x10IC (2 balls)
Side Lunge x15IC (3 balls)
Mt. Climber x10IC (2 balls)
Lunge x20 (4 balls)
Fire Hydrant x5IC (1 ball)
Jump Squats x10 (2 balls)
Burpees x8 (8 balls missed)
Mary
Mosey back to flag
Mary 4×4: Light Pole Lap stopping at each light pole for: 4x WWII, 4x Low Flutter, 4x Freddie Mercury, 4x LBC; all OYO
Side Crunch x10 each side OYO
30sec plank
Moleskin
Thanks to Bozo for the manniversary and the inspiration for this Q, even though it was just poor man’s Bozo’s Buckets! Also, thanks to the PAX for your adequately poor tossing abilities. This beatdown could have taking a horrible turn if too many missed the bucket, too many made it in the buckets, or if, in The Thang 3, you would have all made it in the same bucket! Your ability to miss easy bucket shots, modified from a game for small children is much appreciated.
It was good to get in the helm of a Q again. I believe Christmas was my last one. I’m sure I’ll be back in the drivers seat for my own manniversary Q (unless I donate it to Bozo). This morning was a great reminder of how much energy you can get from Qing a workout. It isn’t the same, and doesn’t feel the same, as simply attending. I would encourage every man to take a turn at the steering wheel sometime. It can certainly be daunting, but, for me anyway, it carries with it a different energy and makes the Q fly by!
As always, I’m always appreciative of you men and your willingness to provide just the right about of mumblechatter to find the line of “difficult but not deadly” for these workouts to be beneficial.
Keep on growing men!
SYITG!
