The Thang: Today’s beatdown centered on the loop from the stage up and around the audience and back. There were twelve stations in all, each positioned at a different hour located on our “clock”. Stage was 6 o’clock, across the circle was 12, you get the picture.
Here were the stations:
- 1: Merkins
- 2: Squats
- 3: WW1s
- 4: Curls
- 5: Lunges
- 6: American Hammers
- 7: Military Press
- 8: Weighted Jump Squat
- 9: Plank
- 10: Two-arm row
- 11: Box hops
- 12: LBCs
I then asked (mostly) time related questions to different pax, and their answers told us where to go. We would run to the hour on the clock, then for 1 minute and 15 seconds (I originally thought 2 minutes would be good) do the workout associated with that station. Here’s the order as best I can remember:
- 5
- 10
- 3
- 10
- 5
- 7
- 6
- 1
- 2
- 12
- 10
Yeah, we did a lot of two-arm rows. As you can see, some workouts involve coupons, some do not. We would have to run around the circle to grab our coupons sometimes, which added a bit more cardio to it.
Moleskin: Biggest beatdown I’ve Q’d so far! Thanks to everybody for showing up, and might I add we also had perfect attendance at coffeeteria today!
Today’s beatdown was an experiment in making a fun yet challenging workout. I liked the randomization aspect and the group participation, although it wasn’t intense and I didn’t feel I worked that hard. I guess that’s okay for these blasting hot days, but I want to make it harder in the future.
We had 9 coupons for 10 pax, which is pretty good considering we only had about 4 people bring them. Gotta remember to bring those! Kato did a good job modifying without one. Shoutout to Joker, my good friend who I can now say I’ve dragged to 2 beatdowns. Surprisingly we only had a couple leg workouts, so it wasn’t too bad for those who went to leg day yesterday.
Everyone seems to focus on the hot weather, don’t they? The heat has got me thinking about how fast time passes. A few months ago, you wouldn’t walk outside without a coat, and now we’re already sweating at 5:30 am. The same applies to most things in life. If you don’t grab on to each minute, they slip past you so fast. I’m trying not to let those moments slip by, because just like a beatdown is made of small sets, a life is made of small moments.
Live every moment for Christ, and the life that those moments make will not be a waste.
See you soon,
Goon
