Thicker Park A.O.
PAX: Crash, Gatsby, OCB, Coors, Roadshow, Kato
Q: PacRat
Weather started warming up. And to think it was mid-40’s earlier this week, the 70 degree go-time temp will take some getting used to. Roadshow pinged the N. F3nwind group chat to see if there was a bootcamp scheduled. No one grabbed it, so I took it. I’m OOT most the time so when there’s an opportunity to serve, I nabbed it. But as it was late in the day, I didn’t have an idea. For the most part, I put thought into putting together a Q with attention to rest, reps, etc. I didn’t have the time to do that.
Even when I awoke the next morning, I didn’t have an idea. I got to 30/41 before I remembered that I have an F3 card deck in my car. That reminded me of the beatdown I had in Boston (at the Harvard sports complex. Not flexin’…). The guy opened a deck while we circled up. The Q put the world’s least effort into shuffling the deck. And boy we felt it. We did 120 burpees, and there was a stretch that we did 4 sets of 10 back-to-back-to-back-to-back.
I shuffled the deck for probably 7 minutes straight. When we got in the mix, the deck didn’t feel as shuffled as I thought. But when going over the numbers afterward, the sets were split up evenly.

The Thang
I pulled out the F3 Nation Deck of cards. I only pulled the top card and put it in the deck to keep track of the reps. Instead of following the description of the exercise on the card, we went with the following:
Any Heart – 10 Burpees
Any Club – 10 LBCs
Any Diamond – 10 Merkins
Any Spade – 10 Squats
Joker ~2min Bear Crawl
All exercises are single count. All exercises were performed OYO
After we executed 7 sets, we added a rest period.
- After the 1st set, PAX counted to 7
- After the 2nd set, PAX counted to 14
- After 3rd set, PAX counted to 21
- After 4th set, PAX counted to 14.
We ended the workout after the 5th set and immediately we’d mosey back to the Flag. We got though 41 cards plus 1 Joker.

By the numbers, we performed the following:
- 110 Merkins
- 100 Burpees
- 120 LBCs
- 80 Squats
It wasn’t easy, but absolutely doable. it was the easiest way to get 100 burpees into a 35 min workout. I’m sure Coors appreciated taking his time doing sets of 10 instead of sets of 25 AFAP burpees. Plus, no running to aggravate his foot.
it goes to show you that it’s not the reps, it’s the camaraderie and the intentionality that makes a workout great. It was an honor to leave sweat angels in the TP parking lot. Even if we did scare that black chick that was sleeping in her car away. In her defense – If I saw a sweaty OCB in a parking lot at 5:45 am, I would also be afraid.
Be of good cheer. Be courageous. Be honorable, and lead those that are counting on you. In some form or another, we’re all counting on you to lead by being the best version of yourself that you can possibly be. God bless.

PS. For posterity – Congratulations to Heisenberg on hitting 199.x! Fewer things are more inspiring than seeing a man set a worthy goal and achieve it by dedication, effort, and remaining steadfast. I hope that pizza was every bit as good as you deserved.
